The Center for Health Research is a group of over 60 faculty researchers on the Berkeley and San Francisco campuses of the University of California. Its members come from many of the social sciences: economics, demography, political science, public health, business, psychology, social welfare, and sociology. Established in January 2001, the Center for Health Research serves as a forum for bringing together social scientists and other investigators across the campus to address the many challenging issues facing the health sector of society (http://healthresearch.berkeley.edu)

The California HealthCare Foundation, based in Oakland, is an independent philanthropy com-mitted to improving California's health care delivery and financing systems. Formed in 1996, our goal is to ensure that all Californians have access to affordable, quality health care. CHCF com-missions research and analysis, publishes and disseminates information, convenes stakeholders, and funds development of programs and models aimed at improving the health care delivery and financing systems.
